Volunteers needed for 6th annual Girls In STEM at TEC-SMART

 

Volunteers are needed to assist with the sixth annual Girls In STEM event on Saturday, March 23 from 8 a.m. to noon at the college’s TEC-SMART facility in Malta.

The free event, open to girls in fourth through eighth grade, features hands-on workshops designed to illustrate the fun side of science and technology. Workshop sessions will be facilitated by leaders and educators in STEM professions.

Girls in STEM is sponsored by AT&T, Hudson Valley Community College, Saratoga County Prosperity Partnership, the Center for Economic Growth and the many dedicated partners hosting this year’s workshops.

Workshop topics include Product Design: Sketching and Testing Ideas (hosted by Kennason), Kid Wind (GE), Design Your Dream House (CS Arch), Solar Field (National Grid),  Super Sleuths with SciGirls (WMHT Public Media), Frozen (Ballston Spa Schools’ Early College High School Program), Spring Into STEM (Ballston Spa Schools’ ECHS), Spectacular Spectroscopy (MiSci), Let’s Create Fun Interactive Stories and Games! (SUNY Empire State College and SIM Albany), What Spectra Tell Us About the Stars! (Capital Region BOCES).
