Volunteers are needed to assist with the eighth annual Girls In STEM event on Saturday morning, April 4, hosted on campus at the Bulmer Telecommunications Center (BTC).
The free event, open to girls in fourth through eighth grade, features hands-on workshops designed to illustrate the fun side of science and technology. Workshop sessions will be facilitated by leaders and educators in STEM professions.
Girls in STEM is sponsored by Hudson Valley Community College and the Center for Economic Growth and the many dedicated partners hosting this year’s workshops.
Workshop topics include: Designing for All (Kennason ); Architectural Styles and Design (CS Arch); A Playful Introduction to Programming (HVCC ); Let’s Relax and Cool Down! Code a Temperature Sensor and Mini-Fan (Globalfoundries); “STEM and Sustainability-the Future is Brighter than You Think” (WMHT); Space Technology (Mad Science of the Capital District); Let’s Create Fun Interactive Stories and Games! (SUNY Empire); Solar Rover (National Grid); and How Do I Pay for That? Understanding Checking Accounts, Credit Cards, and Cash (SEFCU).
