IMPORTANT MESSAGE – PLEASE READ
This information is being provided to help you protect your personal information and reduce the chance of you becoming a victim of identity theft and possible fraud.
There has been an increase in the number of scam emails requesting students and employees to provide their HVCC username and password, along with other personal information. Please be cautious of any email that offers you employment links or directs you to a website that asks for your HVCC username and password outside of the hvcc.edu domain. These emails are malicious/fraudulent in nature and are a security threat.
The latest email scam that was reported to ITS had the subject line “HVCC: Urgent Part-Time (Flexible & Rewarding) Job;” content included “You can make up to $1000 weekly,” and the signature line was “Job Placement & Student Services.”
If you have received the email listed above or suspect you have received an email that is potentially a scam, we strongly recommend that you change your password immediately.
If you have provided your HVCC username and password as a result of a request from an email, please change your password immediately, and forward the email to infosec@hvcc.edu.
NOTE: HVCC will never direct you to a website that asks for your HVCC username and password outside of the hvcc.edu domain. If you are questioning the legitimacy of an email, please forward to infosec@hvcc.edu for guidance.
Thank you,
Information Technology Services (ITS)
