Learn the practical aspects of residential and light commercial air conditioning equipment and systems!
This course is an in-depth study of heat transfer theory, good service and installation practices, and the use of instruments and gauges to assist in fault diagnosis. Successful students will gain entry-level skills in the field of air conditioning installation, service and repair.
The Workforce Development Institute is offering this non-credit, evening course:
July 11 – August 8, 2018
Wednesdays, 5 – 9 p.m.
Thursdays, 5 – 9 p.m.
36 hours, 3.6 CEUs, non-credit
Course content includes terminology, refrigerants and refrigerant charging methods, AC system mechanical components, pressure temperature relationship, installation practices, evacuation and dehydration, mechanical system fault diagnosis, electrical fundamentals system troubleshooting and refrigerant recovery.
Tuition: $690
Upon completion of the course, students will need to obtain the EPA 608 certification prior to working in the field.
Prerequisites: 9th grade reading, writing and math skills and a strong interest in AC fundamentals.
