PV ASSOCIATE (Solar Energy)
Prepare for employment in the
growing sustainable energy industry!
Students enrolled in Hudson Valley Community College’s Workforce Development Institute will now be able to take solar training courses at reduced fees thanks to a $25,000 investment from Cypress Creek Renewables. This investment will help provide reduced course fees for students interested in solar job training, with a focus on bringing more women, veterans and underrepresented people into the industry.
PV Associate is eligible for this funding!
The 40-hour PV Associate course, which covers the fundamentals of photovoltaic (PV) systems design and installation. The objective of the course is to prepare students for taking the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) PV Associate Exam. There is also an optional workshop choice, which consists of four in-person hands-on labs. *Students who opt into the workshop component, must attend all four Saturday sessions.

- Solar Radiation
- System Components and Configurations
- Cells, Modules and Arrays
- Inverters
- Batteries
- Charge Controllers
- Site Surveys and Preplanning
- System Sizing
- Mechanical Integration
- Electrical Integration
- Utility Interconnection
- Permitting and Inspections
- Commissioning and Maintenance
- Economic Analysis, Firefighters’ Concerns

Tuesdays, from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Saturdays – 9/29, 10/13, 10/27 & 11/10 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m

Prerequisites: Minimum 10th grade-level reading and math skills; previous electrical training/experience helpful.
