Over the past year, we’ve experienced a dramatic shift in all aspects of our everyday lives. For Faculty Workshop Day 2021, we are collecting testimonials and short videos from you, our students, regarding your experiences during the pandemic. These videos can be short speeches, vignettes, or even skits (a la TikTok) created by you, which demonstrate one way you’ve balanced school, work, family, friends, and everything in between during this global health crisis.
Although we want you to create your own unique videos that give your professors insight into your diverse experiences, we’ve also provided some questions to get you started:
-
- What’s a challenge of learning during the pandemic that you overcame?
- Now that we are not in class, what do you miss about the classroom experience?
- What have you realized about how you learn best?
- What realizations have you made about your life and priorities?
- How has the pandemic changed your hobbies or outside-of-class activities? (Have you learned a new skill or explored a new interest?)
- Did you get a new pet during the pandemic? What do you love most about him/her?
- Have you had any funny Zoom moments? Or have you found funny uses of Zoom?
- What are you most looking forward to after the pandemic?
Once you’re ready to film your short vignette, please adhere to the following guidelines:
-
- Film your video horizontally; do NOT film it vertically
- Use the highest video resolution possible (HD or 4K is preferred)*
- Speak clearly into the device’s microphone (or use an external microphone), and avoid unnecessary background noise
- Do NOT record music and voice simultaneously unless you are performing a song yourself; otherwise, you must use video editing software to correctly mix more than one audio track
- Use bright, strong front lighting to illuminate your face
*Note: most digital cameras, smartphones, and tablets film in HD or 4K resolution. It’s not recommended that you use Zoom to film your video, as the software records video at a lower resolution.
Once complete, please submit your video files to the following link by Thursday, Dec. 31 at 11:59 p.m.:
