The Center for Access and Assistive Technology (CAAT) would like to take this opportunity to welcome you back and to remind you of the services we provide to students, staff, and faculty with disabilities at Hudson Valley Community College.
- CAAT Location and Business Hours: The Center for Access and Assistive Technology is located on the first floor of the Siek Campus Center, Room 130. The CAAT business hours for Fall 2023 are Monday – Thursday: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Weekend hours are limited and by appointment only.
- CAAT Publications: The following brochures are available: Center for Access and Assistive Technology, Deaf and Hard of Hearing, and Policies & Guidelines for Alternative Testing Services. Please see the CAAT website for valuable information that is helpful for college faculty and staff to ensure access to college programs and activities for individuals with disabilities.
- Employees with Disabilities: Faculty and staff seeking accommodations may contact DeAnne Martocci or Jamie Anadio to schedule a meeting.
- Handicapped/Accessible Parking: There are currently 110 handicapped spaces throughout the campus. Please contact the CAAT with questions or concerns regarding accessible parking.
- Door Operators: Should you encounter any access buttons that are not operational, please contact Physical Plant directly at (518) 629-7356.
- Scooters: The Center for Access and Assistive Technology has electric scooters available on loan for students, staff and faculty use based on individual need on a first come-first serve basis.
- Evac Chairs: Emergency Evacuation Chairs have been strategically placed in buildings throughout the entire campus in the event of an emergency situation.
- Distance Learning/D2L-Brightspace: Please contact the Distance Learning Department in the Bulmer Telecommunications Center (BTC), room 1042 or (518) 629-7070, if you have any questions regarding adjustment of settings within Brightspace to provide accommodations. The CAAT and the Distance Learning Department work collaboratively to support both faculty and student needs with reasonable accommodations.
- Testing Updates: The CAAT office is now using Dynamic Forms to manage requests for test proctoring and after the fall semester, will no longer be accepting exams that are hand-delivered to the office. Students make requests through Dynamic Forms and faculty will be able to view the request, share pertinent proctoring information, and upload the test for CAAT staff. Dynamic Forms is available on the College Faculty and Staff webpage and offers a secure method for faculty, staff, and students to coordinate testing accommodations.
If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions on how we can continue to enhance the services and learning environment for students with disabilities, please do not hesitate to contact us. If you have any questions or concerns regarding testing policies, special scheduling, or about accommodating a student in your class or lab, please call us at (518) 629-7154 or email caat@hvcc.edu. It would be our pleasure to schedule a meeting with you and the student to discuss any concerns you may have.
Thank you for your continued outstanding support and cooperation. Have a fantastic semester and remember we are here to work as a team!
