Welcome back from Environmental Health & Safety

Just a few reminders as we begin a new academic year.

Fire Drills will be starting soon. Per code, they are conducted three times a year, usually at the start of each semester.  Faculty: please remember to make sure all of your students are out of the class room and exiting the building. Everyone should practice taking their belongings because in a real emergency, you may not be allowed back into the building. Floor Marshals: if you have been moved to a new area or if the person who was your FM has left please contact us ASAP! We will be searching for new volunteers.

State Fire inspections will be in October/ November. Please take look around your areas for any issues such as extension cord or power strip misuse. Can you safely exit your office? Candles or open flames are prohibited, and heaters and other appliances must be plugged into the wall outlets. Let us know if you need us to stop by and take a look!

Battery Recycling: Battery recycling containers are located around campus; click here to view the recycling guidelines. for a location near you please visit the EHS webpage. Remember: Due to cost, we can not take your batteries from home.

Chemicals & Other Item Disposal: Please contact our office for any disposal questions. Please do not pour unused chemicals down the drain.

Ergonomics: We offer workstation adjustments for your comfort and safety. Please contact our office.
