The Center for Access and Assistive Technology (CAAT) would like to take this opportunity to welcome you back and to remind you of the services we provide to students, staff and faculty with disabilities at Hudson Valley Community College.
As a reminder, the mission of the CAAT office is to ensure individuals with disabilities receive the same opportunity to participate in all programs and activities provided by the college.
* Extended Hours
Beginning Monday Jan. 22, The Center for Access and Assistive Technology will continue its extended hours during the academic semester. These extended hours give students, faculty and staff an opportunity to utilize our adaptive computer lab, receive training on the assistive technology, testing accommodations and to provide evening students’ and faculty access to the Center for Access and Assistive Technology.
* New for this semester
In collaboration with the Environmental Health and Safety department, we have developed a guide for evacuation of individuals with mobility impairments. The guide includes tips for persons with mobility and physical disabilities, and guidelines for emergency evacuation. This may be a good resource for faculty working with individuals with mobility challenges. Hard copies were distributed to each department on campus and may be viewed on the Center for Access and Assistive Technology website.
* CAAT Publications
The following brochures are available: Center for Access and Assistive Technology, Deaf and Hard of Hearing, High Functioning Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Policies & Guidelines for Alternative Testing Services and Faculty Guidelines. Please contact the Center for Access and Assistive Technology at 629-7154 and we will mail them to you. These publications provide helpful information for college faculty and staff, to ensure access to college programs and activities for individuals with disabilities.
