Happy New Year! With the new year, I know we are all asking “What’s new with Middle States?” Well, here is a quick update on where Hudson Valley is in the Middle States process.
The college has passed its Mid-Point Peer Review! No recommendations from the Evaluation Team, with each of the three areas achieving a rating of “No/Minimal Concern.” The three areas are as follows:
- Analysis of Trends in Student Achievement Indicators. This section includes graduation, retention, completion, and persistence rates, as well as other student achievement-related indicators.
- Analysis of Trends in Viability and Capacity Indicators (Enrollment).
- Analysis of Trends in Financial Indicators. This section focused on the college budget.
The Mid-Point Peer Review (MPPR) is done by a team of peer evaluators from other Middle States’ accredited colleges, based on the Annual Institutional Update (AIU) completed by the college every year. The team of peer evaluators view cumulative data and information provided in previous AIU’s to look for trends in financial data and student achievement data, provide feedback, make recommendations, and, if deemed necessary, request further information.
This update includes, but is not limited to, the following data:
Student Achievement
- Graduation rates
- Loan repayment
- Loan default
Financial Health
- Financial ratios
- Components of ratios
- Financial uploads
Enrollment (headcounts)
- Full- and part-time
- Race/Ethnicity
- Age
- Pell recipients
- Distance education
The goal of the recently-revised Middle States reaccreditation process is to provide an accurate measurement of institutional health, with the focus on student achievement and financial health. The AIU report utilizes existing metrics and standardized definitions to be used to examine five-year trends and will include update reports on recommendations.
