Winter weather can cause greater concerns for individuals with disabilities or mobility challenges. The Easter Seals, the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation, and the National Coalition for Assistive and Rehab Technologies have each published tips that may be helpful to consider while preparing for winter weather:

Individuals with mobility challenges who have a set schedule and route are encouraged to let Physical Plant know their usual route and work hours so that extra attention can be given to snow and ice treatment in those areas. Individuals are also encouraged to report any icy spots or snow covered areas encountered in their path of travel to Physical Plant at (518) 629-7356 for immediate attention. Off-hours, Public Safety should be contacted at (518) 629-7210.
All students, faculty and staff are urged to use their judgment when traveling to campus during inclement weather. If the college is open, it is your responsibility to communicate with the appropriate faculty and staff if you cannot make it to campus. Information regarding college-wide class cancellation and closing procedures can be found at the following link: http://www.hvcc.edu/closing.html
