Women’s Empowerment Day was held on Friday, Aug. 15 and it was a resounding success. 43 students and numerous faculty and staff attended the event. Since the program, students have shared that they learned a great deal from the presenters and that the messages they heard resonated with them. One student shared: “I loved the time for questions and getting the feedback was inspirational to me. Overall I loved the event and I would come back again if the opportunity arose.”
We are extremely grateful for all of the support from campus staff, student helpers, The Foundation, Chartwells, the Office of Special Events, Student Activities, the Athletic Department, the Communications and Marketing Department, graphics, and especially the Women’s Fund of the Capital Region. We could not have made this program a success without all of the support we received from these departments.
We were honored to have a wonderful group of speakers and presenters including: Kathleen Jiminio, the Rensselaer Country Executive, Dr. Drew Matonak, Dr. Carolyn Curtis, Dr. Lucille Marion, Joyce Chupka, Debbie Benson, Marissa Lanchak, Dr. Ann Giesendorfer, My’Asia Colon, and Elaine Houston. We would like to make a special acknowledgment and thank you to Geoff Miller, Karen Ferrer-Muniz, Kristen Riegel, Tasha Taylor, Casey Ryan, Delia Hubbard, Jessica Pugliese, Loni Hetman, Barbara Youngs, and Konrad Odhiambo for all of their help.
Finally, we would like to thank the students who attended the event. Our hope is that they will begin the fall semester inspired and empowered. View photos from the event.
