The women’s soccer team (2-3) lost to #3 Mohawk Valley Community College (8-2), 4-3, on Wednesday afternoon.
The Vikings trailed the #3 team in the nation 3-0 at the half, but battled back in the second. Alexi Anderson (Heatly/Green Island) scored two quick goals in the second half, assisted by Mattia Robustiano (Mohonasen/Rotterdam) and Samantha McGrath (Mohonasen/Rotterdam) to pull within one. Mohawk Valley tacked on another goal to make it 4-2, but Tiara Kruzinski (Mohonasen/Rotterdam) scored with six minutes remaining to make it a one-goal game. The Vikings continued to put on pressure but fell just short, 4-3.
The women host their first game of the season Oct. 2 against Herkimer at 2 p.m.
