Workshop ideas for Faculty Workshop Day

The Faculty Workshop Day planning committee is still in the brainstorming process for our annual event, which we’ve titled “The Pulse of the 21st Century Classroom.” Faculty Workshop Day is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2019.

Thanks to those who helped thus far. Here are some of the topics suggested by your colleagues:

  • Excel for Statistics
  • Discussion on up-and-coming two-year degree programs (Data Science or Data Analytics)
  • Mobile learning (best practices and strategies)
  • Contemporary classroom activities
  • Integrating audio/visual components into lessons
  • Emergent strategies for group learning
  • Helping students with unregistered learning disabilities
  • Non-digital gaming in the classroom
  • Using Google Classroom
  • Yoga/meditation seminar
  • How to expand classes by using Extension Sites with teaching and distance learning
  • OER Integration

For those who haven’t sent us a message, what other kinds of topics seem relevant this year? Also, do you know anyone (affiliated or unaffiliated with the college) who might be interested in presenting a workshop for us?

Feel free to share these suggestions with me (j.peabody@hvcc.edu), Jennifer Austin (j.austin@hvcc.edu), or any other Faculty Workshop Day Committee member.
