{"id":10571,"date":"2018-02-20T21:53:04","date_gmt":"2018-02-21T02:53:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wpdev\/leadhvcc-on-feb-26-sexual-harassment-domestic-violence-how-to-prevent-protect-and-report\/"},"modified":"2018-02-20T21:53:04","modified_gmt":"2018-02-21T02:53:04","slug":"leadhvcc-on-feb-26-sexual-harassment-domestic-violence-how-to-prevent-protect-and-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wpdev\/leadhvcc-on-feb-26-sexual-harassment-domestic-violence-how-to-prevent-protect-and-report\/","title":{"rendered":"LEAD@HVCC on Feb. 26 &#8212; &#8220;Sexual Harassment &#038; Domestic Violence: &#8220;How to Prevent, Protect and Report&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sexual Harrasment and Domestic Violence: &#8220;How to Prevent, Protect and Report&#8221;\u00a0<\/strong>will be the featured topic of discussion at the next critical conversation workshop scheduled for <strong>3 p.m. Monday, Feb. 26<\/strong> in the <strong>Student Leadership Conference Center, Room 202 (right outside the Student Activities Office)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Sandra McCarthy, campus Title IX and Judicial Due Process coordinator; Claudine Potvin-Giordano, director of the Health Services, and Terry Buchannon, campus safety officer, will lead a discussion on how students can identify, prevent, and report if they are being sexual harassed or are victims of domestic violence.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0main objective of\u00a0the workshop is to\u00a0ensure\u00a0all students are\u00a0able to pursue their education without the fear of harassment and abuse, in any setting, according to Louis Coplin, director of Student Life. Coplin added\u00a0that students need to be aware of how to defend themselves,\u00a0where they may get help, and not be afraid of\u00a0filing a complaint or report.<\/p>\n<p>Critical conversations is part of\u00a0the year-long Lead Educate Achieve and Develop (LEAD@HVCC) series coordinated by the Student Activities Office. The weekly topics\u00a0range from leadership development skills and critical conversations that debate some of the days current issues.<\/p>\n<p>Please encourage your students to attend.
