This prerequisite and prerequisite or corequisite structure will allow for successful completion of both the concurrently proposed certificate and Entrepreneurship A.A.S. Degree program requirements.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3.2 New Certificate Program \u2013 Entrepreneurship Certificate Program \u2013 submitted by James Williams and Accounting, Entrepreneurship and Marketing Faculty<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The proposed certificate will provide opportunity for students with specific technical or innovative abilities an entrepreneurial and business education to increase the likelihood of their success as an entrepreneur.\u00a0 It will enhance the student\u2019s skill-set both intellectually and through application.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3.3 New Course \u2013 HIST 140 Modern China \u2013 submitted by Stuart Smyth<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The proposed new elective course is designed to provide students with the most immediate background of Chinese antecedents, culture and history that help explain many of the idiosyncratic features of this country and the region.\u00a0 This will provide insight and a roadmap to an understanding of China and a way to deal with the trade concerns and related features of Chinese American connections.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3.4 New Course \u2013 HIST 145 Modern India \u2013 submitted by Stuart Smyth<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The proposed new elective course is designed to provide students with the most immediate background of Indian antecedents, culture and history that help explain many of the idiosyncratic features of this country and the region.\u00a0 This will provide insight and a roadmap to an understanding of India and a way to deal with the trade concerns and related features of Indian American connections.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3.5 Change in Pre- or Co-requisites and Change in Catalogue Description \u2013 ESLS 094 Reading for Reading for English as a Second Language Students \u2013 submitted by Maria Palmara<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The proposal requests the removal of the current pre- or co-requisites: ESLS 092 Fundamentals of English as a Second Language I or ESLS 093 Fundamentals of English as a Second Language II.\u00a0 These pre- or co- requisites are no longer relevant as the IELP Program is no longer active.\u00a0 The addition of the statement \u2013 Placement is determined by testing and\/or advisement. \u2013 to the catalogue description will clarify how students are to be placed in the course.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3.6<\/strong> <strong>Change in Pre- or Co-requisites and Change in Catalogue Description \u2013 ESLS 096 Speaking and Listening for English as a Second Language Students \u2013 submitted by Maria Palmara<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The proposal requests the removal of the current pre- or co-requisites: ESLS 092 Fundamentals of English as a Second Language I or ESLS 093 Fundamentals of English as a Second Language II or approval of English Department Chairperson or ESL advisor.\u00a0 These pre- or co- requisites are no longer relevant as the IELP Program is no longer active.\u00a0 The addition of the statement, \u201cPlacement is determined by testing and\/or advisement.\u201d to the catalogue description will clarify how students are to be placed in the course.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3.7<\/strong> <strong>Change in Pre- or Co-requisites and Change in Catalogue Description \u2013 ESLS 098 Conversation for English as a Second Language Students \u2013 submitted by Maria Palmara<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The proposal requests the removal of the current pre- or co-requisites: ESLS 092 Fundamentals of English as a Second Language I or ESLS 093 Fundamentals of English as a Second Language II or approval of English Department Chairperson or ESL advisor.\u00a0 These pre- or co- requisites are no longer relevant as the IELP Program is no longer active.\u00a0 The addition of the statement, \u201cPlacement is determined by testing and\/or advisement.\u201d to the catalogue description will clarify how students are to be placed in the course.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3.8 New Course \u2013 ENGL 117 Mastering Essentials of Grammar and Punctuation \u2013 submitted by Dr. Maria Palmara<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The proposed new course provides students with an overview of the conventions \u2013 grammar, usage, and punctuation \u2013 of standard American English with a goal of improving written communication skills.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3.9 New Course \u2013 ICVT 125 Fundamentals of Invasive Cardiovascular Technology and Electrophysiology \u2013 submitted by Patricia Hyland<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The proposed course provides students with an introduction to the monitoring and interventional techniques used for cardiac patients. The course provides students with competencies necessary prior to entering their clinical courses for patient safety.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3.10 New Course \u2013 ICVT 215 Electrophysiology Clinic I \u2013 submitted by Patricia Hyland<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The proposed new course is an introductory course to the mapping and treatment of electrophysiology disturbances in cardiac patients.\u00a0 Electrophysiology \u00a0is new technology in Cardiac Diagnostics.\u00a0 The addition of this course within our program would decrease the cost of training Electrophysiology Technologists for hospitals making our graduates more marketable thus improving job placement.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3.11 New Course \u2013 ICVT 225 Electrophysiology Clinic II \u2013 submitted by Patricia Hyland<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The proposed new course introduces the student to interventional treatment of electrophysiology disturbances in cardiac patients.\u00a0 Electrophysiology testing is new technology in Cardiac Diagnostics.\u00a0 The addition of this course within our program would decrease the cost of training Electrophysiology Technologists for hospitals making our graduates more marketable thus improving job placement.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3.12 Change in Degree Requirements \u2013 Invasive Cardiovascular Technology A.A.S. Program \u2013 submitted by Patricia Hyland<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The proposal request the following changes: the BIOL 139 requirement will be BIOL 139 or BIOL 271; BIOL 205 will no longer be required; PHYS 110 will be required; the current requirement of MATH 110 will be replaced with a choice of MATH 135, MATH 150 or a higher level math course; a grade of \u201cC\u201d or better will be required for BIOL 139 or BIOL 271, PHYS 110 and RESP 101; ICVT 230 will no longer be required in the last summer session, it will be replaced with ICVT 125, ICVT 215 and ICVT 225.\u00a0 These changes will result in a change in the total credits required, from 68 credits to 64 credits.\u00a0 All of these changes will benefit the students in regards to transfer opportunity an preparation for the clinical setting.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3.13 Deactivation of Course \u2013 ICVT 230 Invasive Cardiovascular Technology III \u2013 submitted by Patricia Hyland<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>ICVT 230 was more appropriate when the certificate version of the program was offered.\u00a0 Now that we have a two year AAS degree requirement, student would be better served by having an introductory course in the summer semester between the first and second year with an added clinical day each week throughout the Fall and Spring semesters in the second year devoted to Electrophysiology testing.\u00a0 Deactivating this course, allows us to utilize the credits toward Electrophysiology training.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3.14<\/strong> <strong>New Course \u2013 DART 100 Digital Imaging I \u2013 submitted by Dorothy Reynolds <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The proposed new course will emphasize the computer as a tool in digital image making.\u00a0 This course is a critical component to the field of digital media and to the concurrently proposed Digital Media A.S. Degree Program.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3.15 Change in Course Subject Code and Number \u2013 ARTS 160 Introduction to Graphic Design \u2013 submitted by Dorothy Reynolds<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This proposal requests that the current subject code and number be changed to DART 110.\u00a0 The change will make this course stand out as a digital media course.\u00a0 The Digital Media Certificate is currently the only program that requires ARTS 160.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3.16 New Course \u2013 DART 120 Web Art and Design \u2013 submitted by Dorothy Reynolds<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The proposed course will focus on Web design fundamentals, in the context of creating art with the unique characteristics of the Web.\u00a0 Students will also be introduced to the history, theory and best practices of Web-based art.\u00a0 This course is a critical component to the field of digital media and to the concurrently proposed Digital Media A.S. Degree Program.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3.17 Change in Subject Code, Number, Title, and Change in Prerequisite \u2013 ATRS 262 Web Narrative Animation \u2013 submitted by Dorothy Reynolds<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The proposal requests that the current subject code, number, and title be changed to DART 205 Animation. \u00a0This change will make this course stand out as a digital media course.\u00a0 Proposed prerequisites are ARTS 115 Two-Dimensional Design and DART 100 Digital Imaging I, or permission of the instructor and department chair.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3.18 New Course \u2013 DRT 200 Digital Imaging II &#8211; submitted by Dorothy Reynolds<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The proposed course is an intermediate level Digital Imaging course that will introduce students to Digital Media using a drawing tablet along with building upon image making skills developed in Digital Imaging I.\u00a0 This course is a critical component to the field of digital media and to the concurrently proposed Digital Media A.S. Degree Program.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3.19 New Course \u2013 DART 220 Interactive Media \u2013 submitted by Dorothy Reynolds<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The proposed course brings together video, animation, graphic design, and digital art into an interactive environment.\u00a0 Students will be introduced to interactive media design concepts, practices and the technology that drives it.\u00a0 This course is a critical component to the field of digital media and to the concurrently proposed Digital Media A.S. Degree Program.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3.20 Change in Course Subject code and Number, Change in Prerequisite, and Change in Prerequisite or Corequisite \u2013 ARTS 268 Professional Portfolio Practice \u2013 submitted by Dorothy Reynolds<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The proposal requests that the current subject code and number be changed to DART 230. This change will make this course stand out as a digital media course.\u00a0 Proposed prerequisites are DART 100 Digital Imaging I and ARTS 110 Drawing I, or ARTS 115 Two Dimensional Design, or ARTS 129 Photography I, or DART 110 Introduction to Graphic Design, or DART 115 Video Art, or by permission of the Instructor and Department Chair.\u00a0 Proposed prerequisites or corequisites are DART 205 animation or DART 220 Interactive Media.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3.21 New Course \u2013 DART 235 Arts Internship \u2013 submitted by Dorothy Reynolds<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The proposed course will enable students to engage in a supervised internship in a work environment requiring the skills obtained by fine arts or digital media coursework. This course is a critical component to the field of digital media and to the concurrently proposed Digital Media A.S. Degree Program.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3.22 New Degree Program \u2013 Digital Media A.S. \u2013 submitted by Dorothy Reynolds<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Digital Media Certificate Program was created three years ago.\u00a0 Students continue to request that it be a two year A.S. degree program.\u00a0 In the three years the program has been in existence students have coupled the one year program with one year of Individual Studies and have eventually graduated with both the certificate and a two year degree.\u00a0 The creation of this degree will afford students a clear academic path to graduation with a Digital Media A.S. degree.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3.23 New Course \u2013 ARTS 104 History of Fashion \u2013 submitted by Dorothy Reynolds<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The proposed course is a new elective course that will examine the forms, contexts and styles of Western dress and fashion from the<br \/>\nRenaissance to the 21<sup>st<\/sup> century.\u00a0 The emphasis will be on the role of clothing styles in culture and their relationship to fine arts, decorative arts,\u00a0 and architecture.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3.24 New Course \u2013 ARTS 205 Frozen Music: A History of Western Architecture \u2013 submitted by Dorothy Reynolds<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The proposed elective course will provide an interview of Western architecture from the prehistoric period up until the present.\u00a0 The emphasis will be on the cultural content of architecture and the meanings, ideas and uses of architecture during the periods covered.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3.25 Change in Degree Requirements \u2013 Digital Media Certificate \u2013 submitted by Dorothy Reynolds<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The proposed changes are: ARTS 145 Introduction to Electronic Art will be removed as a requirement and replaced with DART 100 Digital Imaging I; ARTS 160 Introduction to Graphic Design will become DART 110 Introduction to Graphic Design; ARTS 165 Introduction to Video Art and the Postproduction Process will become DART 115 Video Art; DART 120 Web Art and Design will be added; ARTS 262 2D Web Narrative Animation will become DART 205 Animation; ARTS 264 Net Art will be removed and replaced with DART 220 Interactive Media; ARTS 268 Professional Portfolio Practice will become DART 230 Professional Portfolio Practice; restricted electives will be reduced from 6 credits to 3 credits; reword footnotes; new courses ARTS 104 and ARTS 205 will be added as electives.
