(<span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Note:<\/strong><\/span> the Attendance Tool is not designed for use in online courses.)<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>To access this Tool,<\/strong><\/span> go to <strong>Course Tools<\/strong> on your <strong>Control Panel<\/strong>, and then select <strong>Attendance<\/strong>.\u00a0 The <strong>Attendance<\/strong> window that opens offers two views, <strong>Overall<\/strong> and <strong>Meeting<\/strong>, which you can toggle between using the <strong>Overall<\/strong> and <strong>Meeting<\/strong> buttons in the upper right corner of the <strong>Attendance<\/strong> window:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-87185\" src=\"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/01-6.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"173\" height=\"77\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>In <em>Meeting<\/em> view (see below),<\/strong><\/span> you see a table with a list of the students in your course, and check boxes to the right of each student\u2019s name, which allow you to mark each student as Present, Late, Absent or Excused.\u00a0 The table in this view is labeled <strong>Today<\/strong>, and refers to the current date.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-87191\" src=\"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/01a-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"765\" height=\"451\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>If you mark a student as Present,<\/strong><\/span> a score of <strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">100<\/span> <\/strong>will display for that student. Similarly, a student marked as Late receives a score of <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>50<\/strong><\/span>, and a student marked as absent a score of <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>0<\/strong><\/span>. If you mark a student as Excused, the box containing that student\u2019s attendance score displays as blank grey (see the screenshots below).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-87187\" src=\"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/02-4.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"670\" height=\"269\" \/> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-87188\" src=\"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/03-4.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"670\" height=\"267\" \/> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-87189\" src=\"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/04-2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"670\" height=\"265\" \/> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-87190\" src=\"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/05-2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"669\" height=\"263\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>In <em>Overall<\/em> view (see below),<\/strong><\/span> you see 5 columns, with the <strong>Today<\/strong> column appearing on the far right, and columns for the four previous days appearing to the left of the <strong>Today<\/strong> column. Above the table in <strong>Overall<\/strong> view, you see displayed the overall attendance score-to-date for your class, the percentage and number of students who have perfect attendance (i.e., those students who have attendance scores of <strong>100<\/strong>), the percentage and number who have average attendance (those students who have attendance scores from <strong>50<\/strong> to <strong>99<\/strong>), and the percentage who have below-average attendance (those students whose attendance scores are below <strong>50<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-87193\" src=\"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/06-2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"697\" height=\"282\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>At the completion of your course,<\/strong><\/span> you can also use the Attendance Tool to download, save and\/or print out the overall attendance record and statistics for that course. To do this, select the <strong>Export<\/strong> button in the upper-right of the <strong>Attendance<\/strong> window (see below). When you do this, you will be prompted to save your <strong>Attendance<\/strong> report to your computer (in <em>MS Excel<\/em>-compatible format).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-87194\" src=\"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/07.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"105\" height=\"88\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>Final Note:<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0If you access the Attendance Tool, <em>Blackboard<\/em> will automatically generate an <strong>Attendance<\/strong> column in your course Grade Center.
