Women\u2019s Tennis:<\/strong> The Hudson Valley Community College women’s tennis student-athlete\u00a0Jacqueline Bornt<\/strong> won the NJCAA Region 3 Championship as the regionals top-singles player on Sunday, Oct. 7 at the Drumlins Tennis Center in Syracuse.<\/p>\n Bornt defeated Onondaga’s Micah Mixon in straight sets 6-1,6-0 to claim the No. 1 Singles Championship and in doing so, she has qualified for the NJCAA National Tournament on November 2-4 in Peachtree City, Georgia.<\/p>\n Cross Country<\/strong>: The Hudson Valley Community College men’s and women’s cross-country teams competed with the best cross country programs in the Northeast region and performed very well. The women\u2019s team finished first among all of the participating two-year institutions and the men\u2019s program placed second among all two-year programs.<\/p>\n Football<\/strong>: The Hudson Valley Community College football team (1-5) earned its first victory of the year behind a record-breaking performance by quarterback\u00a0Nik Rango<\/strong>. The Vikings defeated Ithaca JV 42-22 on the road on Sunday afternoon.<\/p>\n Rango threw for a program record 412-yards with 20 completions on 33 attempts. He also tossed five touchdown passes to set the Vikings all-time record for touchdown passes in a single game.<\/p>\n Men\u2019s Soccer:\u00a0<\/strong>The men\u2019s soccer team was off all week from competition and will be returning home this week to play Bergen at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 11.<\/p>\n Women\u2019s Soccer:\u00a0<\/strong>Hudson Valley Community College women’s soccer (8-2-1) used three first half goals to defeat North Country 3-1 on the road on Sunday afternoon.<\/p>\n The Vikings were led by\u00a0Sydnee Metzold<\/strong> and\u00a0Brooke Clough\u00a0<\/strong>as they combined for a record eight total points with three goals and two assists in the win. The Vikings leading scorer, Metzold’s two goals were her 19th and 20th goals of the season with Clough assisting on both.<\/p>\n Volleyball:\u00a0<\/strong>The women\u2019s volleyball team was home on Wednesday and were defeated 3-1 by Fulton-Montgomery.
