Bulmer Award for Excellence in Library Research"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The deadline for submission of research papers for the 2012-2013 <strong>Dr. Joseph J. Bulmer Award for Excellence in Library Research<\/strong> is<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> 5 p.m. Friday, April 16, 2013<\/span>.\u00a0<\/strong> This date is to ensure<strong> <\/strong>that the\u00a0recipient is included in Students Honors Convocation, as well as Commencement.\u00a0 If this deadline is too early for your particular class(es), we encourage you to\u00a0retain any papers you would like to nominate and submit them for consideration\u00a0next year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A student must be<strong> nominated by the faculty member<\/strong> for whom the research assignment was completed.\u00a0 The work nominated must have received a<strong> grade of A<\/strong> from the nominating faculty member.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Award selection criteria:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Extensive bibliography with <strong>minimum of five sources<\/strong> and <strong>various formats<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Evidence of <strong>initiative, persistence<\/strong> and <strong>ingenuity<\/strong> in identifying sources<\/li>\n<li>Evidence of critical thinking in evaluating sources for <strong>credibility and appropriateness<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Correct citation format<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Free of plagiarism<\/strong> (papers may be reviewed using turnitin.com or similar software)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The <strong>Dr. Joseph J. Bulmer Award for Excellence in Library Research<\/strong> is selected annually by the<strong> Dwight Marvin Library faculty<\/strong>.\u00a0 The award recognizes a student\u2019s outstanding accomplishment in library-based research.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Bulmer established the award in 1989 when he was president of the college.
