{"id":11638,"date":"2018-10-30T12:09:13","date_gmt":"2018-10-30T16:09:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wpdev\/the-hudsonian-earns-award-at-national-conference-2\/"},"modified":"2018-10-30T12:09:13","modified_gmt":"2018-10-30T16:09:13","slug":"the-hudsonian-earns-award-at-national-conference-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wpdev\/the-hudsonian-earns-award-at-national-conference-2\/","title":{"rendered":"The Hudsonian earns award at national conference"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Hudsonian, the college&#8217;s student newspaper, placed ninth in the nation in the two-year school category in the Associate Collegiate Press Best of Show Awards during the National College Media Conference held Oct. 25 to 28 in Louisville, KY.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is a very new, but talented staff that works hard every week and is so deserving of this honor,&#8221; said Rachel Bornn, English professor and faculty advisor to the Hudsonian staff, in announcing the award.<\/p>\n<p>Colleges and universities from across the country attended the conference and participated in various competitions and workshops. Awards were given to the top 10 entries in the two-year tabloid category.<\/p>\n<p>The Hudsonian is an independent\u00a0and student-run weekly\u00a0publication. It first was published in 1961, following The Technician, the student newspaper when the college was known as Hudson Valley Technical Institute (1954-1959).<\/p>\n<p>The Hudsonian hits the stands every <span id=\"OBJ_PREFIX_DWT27_com_zimbra_date\" class=\"Object\">Tuesday<\/span> throughout the school year and maintains a website at <a title=\"www.thehudsonian.org\/\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thehudsonian.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span id=\"OBJ_PREFIX_DWT28_com_zimbra_url\" class=\"Object\">www.hudsonian.org<\/span><\/a>.
