{"id":12246,"date":"2019-03-11T12:11:57","date_gmt":"2019-03-11T16:11:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wpdev\/be-the-match-donor-registry-drive\/"},"modified":"2019-03-11T12:11:57","modified_gmt":"2019-03-11T16:11:57","slug":"be-the-match-donor-registry-drive","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wpdev\/be-the-match-donor-registry-drive\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;Be the Match&#8221; Donor Registry Drive"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Did you know\u2026?<\/p>\n<p>\u2026over 140 people die every day, from blood cancer?\u00a0 That\u2019s about six lives lost, every hour!<br \/>\n\u2026being a marrow donor is pretty easy!<\/p>\n<p>Matching donors to patients in need, is a much larger challenge, but you can help!<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, March 14, theSchool of Health Sciences and Athletics Department will assist <strong>Be The Match Donor Registry<\/strong> Volunteer Betty House to sponsor a marrow donor registry drive. <strong>If you are between the ages of 18 and 44, and in good general health, please stop by the Campus Center Lobby between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., and consider signing up!<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Donating marrow is pain-free, and doesn\u2019t cost the donor, a cent! The patient\u2019s insurance and Be the Match Donor Registry cover all costs associated with a transplant for you and a friend.
