The campus OER initiative is maturing to the point where the current option for faculty to adopt\/adapt existing OER textbooks no longer meets the needs or ambitions of some faculty. In response, a new higher-tier option is now available to faculty: OER content compilation<\/strong>. The OER content compilation option provides increased funding for faculty who opt to identify a compilation of multiple sources of open sources, to include their own created works with Creative Commons license assigned, and to supplement with traditionally copyrighted works.\u00a0 This option recognizes the additional time and effort required when no open textbook is available for ready adoption.<\/p>\n The OER content compilation option provides faculty with an $800 stipend, paid in two installments, at the beginning and at the completion of the project. In addition, the faculty\u2019s DC will receive a $150 stipend in anticipation of time and effort spent in support of the faculty proposer.<\/p>\n Details are provided on the Dwight Marvin Library OER subject guide at https:\/\/libguides.hvcc.edu\/oer\/compilation<\/a>.<\/p>\n Faculty interested in proposing a OER content compilation must: A final review will be completed to verify that the compilation is complete and that the majority of materials selected meet SUNY definition of OER.<\/p>\n We have preliminarily identified Oct. 30 as the completion date for Spring 2020 course adoption, but are mindful that departments may set earlier due dates in order to allow for sufficient time for textbook selections.
