{"id":1263,"date":"2013-12-03T12:35:57","date_gmt":"2013-12-03T17:35:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wpdev\/today-employees-are-invited-to-celebrate-givingtuesday\/"},"modified":"2013-12-03T12:35:57","modified_gmt":"2013-12-03T17:35:57","slug":"today-employees-are-invited-to-celebrate-givingtuesday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wpdev\/today-employees-are-invited-to-celebrate-givingtuesday\/","title":{"rendered":"Today: Employees are invited to celebrate #givingtuesday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a simple idea! <strong>Giving Tuesday<\/strong> (#givingtuesday\u00ae) is a campaign to create a national day of giving at the start of the annual holiday season on the heels of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. <strong>Giving Tuesday<\/strong> celebrates and encourages charitable activities that enhance nonprofit organizations.<\/p>\n<p>The Hudson Valley Community College Foundation invites you to join with us on \u00a0Tuesday, Dec. 3 to support those causes which are nearest to you. Tell your story at #givingtuesday\u00ae: volunteer, donate, show how much care and tell everyone that you are part of this national celebration!<\/p>\n<p>And why not start at a place close to you? Giving to the Hudson Valley Community College Foundation will better prepare future leaders in our community. Last year, donations from individuals like you and your colleagues allowed the Foundation to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Award $186,725 to nearly 120 students for scholarships.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide $20,000 for additional seating\/furnishings in\u00a0the already jam-packed Troy Savings Bank Charitable Foundation \u00a0Atrium in the Marvin Library Learning Commons.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Help fund the \u00a0Armed Forces Study Room in the Marvin\u00a0Library Learning Commons, as a space for student veterans to congregate and feel comfortable.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Purchase $120,000 worth of \u00a0equipment for the new Science\u00a0Center.\u00a0 In addition, the Foundation has raised an additional $335,000 to fund the Greenhouse in the Science Center.\u00a0 We are nearly halfway there and your gift can help us realize this learning space.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide more than $400,000 to support our campaign\u00a0initiatives like the Nursing program, TEC-SMART and other\u00a0student-centered programs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Make your annual gift to the HVCC Foundation as part of the #givingtuesday\u00ae movement. Every gift matters regardless of its size. Please consider giving through a Employee Payroll Deduction or make a one-time gift by visiting <a title=\"www.hvcc.edu\/giving\/employeegiving\" href=\"http:\/\/www.hvcc.edu\/giving\/employeegiving\" target=\"_blank\">www.hvcc.edu\/giving\/employeegiving<\/a>.
