Oct. 21-27 is Open Access Week around the globe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Dwight Marvin Library is pleased to announce that the theme for the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.openaccessweek.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">2019 International Open Access Week<\/a>, to be held October 21-27, will be \u201cOpen for Whom? Equity in Open Knowledge.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>International Open Access Week<\/strong> is a worldwide week of action to open up access to research. The event is celebrated by individuals, institutions and organizations across the globe, and its organization is led by an international advisory committee. The official hashtag of Open Access Week is #OAweek.<\/p>\n<p>The library plans the following opportunities for students, faculty and staff to become better acquainted with OERs (<a href=\"https:\/\/libguides.hvcc.edu\/oer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Open Educational Resources<\/a>), <a href=\"https:\/\/libguides.hvcc.edu\/oer\/cc_licensing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Creative Commons<\/a> licensing, and open access principles in general.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Monday Oct. 21 through Friday Oct. 25<br \/>\n<\/strong>Library OER display including open textbooks, informational handouts and materials.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tuesday, Oct. 22<br \/>\n<\/strong>Association of College Research Libraries webinar:<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong><em>Open for Students and Educators: Open Educational Resources Level the Playing Field Confirmation<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Time: 2 to 3 p.m.<br \/>\nLocation: MRV 014<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Description: Open educational resources (OERs) are not usually a hard sell for students. But what about educators? How do they benefit from having access to resources that are licensed openly? And how can we, as librarians, guide faculty in adopting and adapting OERs?
