The week of Nov. 4 – 8<\/strong>\u00a0is National Distance Learning Week, and the Center for Distance and Online Learning will be celebrating the occasion by offering all week a series of short, 30-minute overviews of exciting new Blackboard<\/em> tools and resources that are now available for faculty to take advantage of!<\/p>\n SoftChalk Monday <\/em><\/span>will feature overviews of SoftChalk<\/em>, a web-based tool that DL staff will use to create a variety of engaging interactive presentations and scored activities that students can access directly through their Blackboard<\/em> courses, and that faculty can have custom-made on request.<\/p>\n TechSmith Relay Tuesday <\/span><\/em>will feature overviews of TechSmith Relay<\/em>, another web-based tool, which faculty can use to create dynamic, interactive instructional videos in their Blackboard<\/em> courses.<\/p>\n In turn, the overviews on ALLY Wednesday and Friday<\/span><\/em>\u00a0will introduce faculty to ALLY<\/em>, a Blackboard<\/em> plugin that can be your best \u201cally\u201d in ensuring that your Blackboard<\/em> course content is accessible and ADA-compliant.<\/p>\n The overviews on OSCQR Thursday<\/em><\/span>\u00a0will focus, finally, on the OSCQR<\/em> (Open SUNY Course Quality Review) Rubric, which provides a matrix that faculty can follow as a guide to meeting the standards for online course design established by Open SUNY.<\/p>\n As icing on the cake, there will be a drawing on Friday for cool bags of \u201cmystery swag.\u201d Faculty will receive a drawing ticket for each overview session they attend, and there will be three lucky winners!<\/p>\n Below is a schedule of the overviews that the DL Office has planned for National Distance Learning Week.
