The women&#8217;s program claimed fifth place as their top finisher McKenzie Ryan qualified as an All-American following her 11th place finish. The women&#8217;s team tallied 137 total points in the 5K race, which gave them a top-five finish for the second consecutive season. Ryan&#8217;s 11th place finish came with an official time of 20:35.<\/p>\n<p>The men&#8217;s cross country team finished outside of the top-10 in 13th\u00a0place out of 28 total teams. The men were led by\u00a0Joseph Degiorgio, who finished\u00a0the 8K race in 42nd\u00a0place\u00a0to with a time of 28:55.\u00a0\u00a0Evan Rogotzke\u00a0followed Degiorgio\u00a0and\u00a0with a time of\u00a029:47.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Football<br \/>\n<\/strong>Hudson Valley Community College football team (5-4) won its second straight game and its fourth in the last five games after defeating Navy Prep 8-7 on Saturday afternoon at the Outdoor Athletic Complex.<\/p>\n<p>The Vikings were held scoreless for a majority of the game and were held deep into their own territory until they finally broke through with 1:34 remaining in the fourth quarter. The Vikings marched 75 yards on a 17-play drive, which was capped by a one-yard rushing touchdown by\u00a0Desi Floyd. As the crowd noise grew louder, the Vikings opted to utilize their momentum and attempt a two-point conversion and the opportunity to gain the lead over Navy Prep.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Volleyball<br \/>\n<\/strong>The women\u2019s volleyball program is continuing to collect donations for their Dig Pink campaign. Please donate to the cause here: <a href=\"https:\/\/giving.side-out.org\/campaigns\/16345#\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/giving.side-out.org\/campaigns\/16345#\/<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Men\u2019s Soccer<br \/>\n<\/strong>Hudson Valley Community College men&#8217;s soccer (6-9-2) once again needed extra time to decide a winner as the Vikings were defeated on the road at Broome, 2-1, in overtime on Tuesday afternoon, the first round of the NJCAA Region 3 tournament.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Women\u2019s Soccer<br \/>\n<\/strong>Hudson Valley Community College women&#8217;s soccer (12-4) defeated Genesee, 5-0, on Thursday afternoon to advance to the NJCAA Region 3 District A Championship match against the top-seeded Mohawk Valley Hawks. The Vikings were defeated, 3-1, by top-seeded Mohawk Valley in the NJCAA Region 3 District A Championship match on Sunday afternoon at Herkimer College.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Men\u2019s Basketball<br \/>\n<\/strong>Hudson Valley Community College men&#8217;s basketball started the 2019 season with an 80-74 road win at Cayuga on Saturday afternoon in Auburn.<\/p>\n<p>The Vikings were led by freshman\u00a0Iziah Pigott\u00a0(Brooklyn\/Urban Assembly for Law &amp; Justice) and sophomore\u00a0Will Aybar\u00a0(Albany\/Colonie), who each recorded a double-digit scoring game. Pigott finished the game with a team-high 13 points, including a pair of three-point field goals. Aybar earned most of his points at the free throw line as he finished 7-of-8 on the free shots.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Women\u2019s Basketball<br \/>\n<\/strong>The women\u2019s basketball team had two games over the weekend and finished with a 1-1 record. On Saturday, the team tipped off the 2019 season with an 81-69 road win at Cayuga. The Vikings were led by freshmen\u00a0Emily Erickson\u00a0(Melrose\/Tamarac),\u00a0Grace VanRoy\u00a0(Saugerties\/Saugerties) and\u00a0Alex Rifenburg\u00a0(Schaghticoke\/Hoosic Valley) as all three finished the game with double-digit points.<\/p>\n<p>On Sunday, they\u00a0 were defeated, 82-71, by Montgomery College as they participated in Sullivan&#8217;s Season Tip-Off Tournament in Loch Sheldrake.
