\u201cStudio Time: Artist\/Teachers of the Capital District\u201d will be on view beginning Thursday, Nov. 7 in the Teaching Gallery at Hudson Valley Community College. The exhibit features work in a variety of media by 40 current and retired K-12 art teachers from Region 6 of the New York State Art Teachers Association (NYSATA).<\/p>\n
Many of the artists will be on hand for an opening reception from 4 to 6 p.m. on Nov. 7 that is open free to the public. The Teaching Gallery is located on the ground floor of the Administration Building.<\/p>\n
All artist\/teachers in NYSATA\u2019s 11-county Region 6 were invited to submit their work for inclusion in \u201cStudio Time,\u201d resulting in an especially diverse exhibit that includes drawings, paintings, photographs, sculpture and mixed-media works. The artists represent K-12 art classrooms in the following school districts: Bethlehem, East Greenbush, Gilboa-Conesville, Guilderland, Ichabod Crane, Mechanicville, Menands, Mohonasen, Niskayuna, North Colonie, Schalmont, Scotia-Glenville, Shenendehowa and Troy.<\/p>\n
The exhibition is presented in collaboration with Capital Area Art Supervisors, whose mission is to ensure all K-12 visual arts education \u201cfosters personal growth, community involvement, and social and career development.\u201d<\/p>\n
Teaching Gallery exhibits are installed and assisted by students in Gallery Management courses with support from the Department of Fine Arts, Theatre Arts and Digital Media, the Cultural Affairs Program and the Hudson Valley Community College Foundation. Associate Professor Tara Fracalossi is gallery director.<\/p>\n
