\"\"<\/a>All are welcome to attend the Dollar Baby Festival: Short Films Based on Short Works by Stephen King<\/strong> on Friday, Nov. 22 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Bulmer Telecommunications Auditorium. The free event closes out the Cultural Affairs Program\u2019s fall 2019 schedule.<\/p>\n

A Dollar Baby is born when Stephen King allows a fledgling filmmaker to film one of his short works for just $1, as he\u2019s done since 1977. The festival is a rare opportunity to view short King-inspired films, including the Capital Region premier of local author and filmmaker Bryan Higby\u2019s \u201cHere There Be Tygers.\u201d The 11-minute film is a liberating tale from the viewpoint of a child who sees tigers in the school restroom. It was filmed on the Hudson Valley campus in March 2019.<\/p>\n

The film festival also will include: “Paranoid” (Jay Holben, 2000, 8 min.), known to be a favorite of Stephen King; “Grey Matter” (James B. Cox, 2012, 16 min.), about a boy who cried monster and no one believed him; “Luckey Quarter” (Robert Cochrane & Robert David Cochrane, 2005, 11 min.), about a down-on-her-luck chambermaid who is tipped a “Luckey” quarter, and “Umney\u2019s Last Case” (Rodney Altman, 2006, 18 min.), in which a 1930s private detective\u2019s life swiftly unravels. A Q&A with Bryan Higby will follow the films.<\/p>\n
