<\/a>On the morning of Jan. 6, Rugenstein was a panelist during the World History for the 21st Century: Redesigning the College History Introductory Curriculum Workshop<\/em>. His presentation, “Using an Annotated Bibliography in an Introductory Course,” was based on a slide presentation, How to Prepare an Annotated Bibliography, that he uses in class. The panelists’ presentations were followed by a Q&A session.<\/p>\nRugenstein also presented during the “Assignment Charrette: Undergraduate and K-16 Teaching Workshop,” during which history instructors from high school to college level discussed assignments used in their course work and how to improve them.<\/p>\n
During the poster presentations, Rugenstein shared the poster, The Impact of Westward Expansion on New York State Agricultural Prosperity, 1830-1900 (see below). Visitors to the poster presentations had an opportunity to talk with the historians exhibiting posters on a range of topics from agriculture to transportation and urban networks. The American Historical Association’s annual meeting gives K-16 history instructors an opportunity to explore and articulate the challenges facing instructors in world history courses. In addition to his role as a presenter, Rugenstein attended sessions on “Native Peoples, Settler Colonialism and the Early Republic,” and the K-16 Educators\u2019 Workshop: “Hold On \u2013 I Thought I Knew This Story!”<\/p>\n His shared his experiences and photos in this article posted to Linkedin: This article, also posted to Linkedin, features his poster presentation:<\/a><\/p>\n
