Rugenstein, an adjunct faculty member in the History, Philosophy, and Social Sciences Department, attended the American Historical Association&#8217;s 134th Annual Meeting held Jan. 3 through 6 in New York City. A presenter at previous gatherings of the Association, Rugenstein took on a larger role at this year&#8217;s event.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/Dr.-Rugenstein.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-103346 size-medium alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/Dr.-Rugenstein-200x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>On the morning of Jan. 6, Rugenstein was a panelist during the <em>World History for the 21st Century: Redesigning the College History Introductory Curriculum Workshop<\/em>. His presentation, &#8220;Using an Annotated Bibliography in an Introductory Course,&#8221; was based on a slide presentation, How to Prepare an Annotated Bibliography, that he uses in class. The panelists&#8217; presentations were followed by a Q&amp;A session.<\/p>\n<p>Rugenstein also presented during the &#8220;Assignment Charrette: Undergraduate and K-16 Teaching Workshop,&#8221; during which history instructors from high school to college level discussed assignments used in their course work and how to improve them.<\/p>\n<p>During the poster presentations, Rugenstein shared the poster, The Impact of Westward Expansion on New York State Agricultural Prosperity, 1830-1900 (see below). Visitors to the poster presentations had an opportunity to talk with the historians exhibiting posters on a range of topics from agriculture to transportation and urban networks.<a href=\"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/RugensteinPoster.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-103344 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/RugensteinPoster.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1424\" height=\"919\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The American Historical Association&#8217;s annual meeting gives K-16 history instructors an opportunity to explore and articulate the challenges facing instructors in world history courses.
