The free event opens the college\u2019s Cultural Affairs Program spring 2020 schedule of events.<a href=\"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/Karim-Nagi-scaled.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-104311 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/Karim-Nagi-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Egyptian performing artist Karim Nagi\u2019s multi-media presentation features Arab instruments (the tablah, riqq and buzuq) and rousing performances of \u201cBaladi TukTuk\u201d and \u201cOriental Magic Carpet\u201d from \u201cDetour Guide,\u201d one of his many CDs. A self-described \u201cculture bearer,\u201d Nagi\u2019s mission is to demonstrate how familiarity between cultural groups reduces racism. He uses his own career, research data, music and videos to dispel stereotypes.
