Meritorious Service Awards were presented for the first time in 1981.<\/p>\n<p>The change reflects the fact that the fall campus calendar has gotten more crowded with the addition of a <a href=\"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wordpress\/join-us-today-for-the-college-thanksgiving-celebration-copy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Thanksgiving Celebration<\/a>, a major event that attracted hundreds of students, faculty and staff in its first year in 2018. Plus, President Roger Ramsammy will host a Holiday Open House in December.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, the 2019 Meritorious Service Awards, which recognize Classified employees who consistently &#8220;go above and beyond&#8221; the routine objectives of their job, will be presented in early 2020 along with pins honoring years of service from 5 to 50 years.<\/p>\n<p>Please watch the Campus Chronicle for the call for Meritorious Service Award nominations to be released on Monday, Dec. 9.
