{"id":14189,"date":"2020-04-27T12:25:33","date_gmt":"2020-04-27T16:25:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wpdev\/cultural-affairs-program-presents-world-of-percussion-with-brian-melick\/"},"modified":"2020-04-27T12:25:33","modified_gmt":"2020-04-27T16:25:33","slug":"cultural-affairs-program-presents-world-of-percussion-with-brian-melick","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wpdev\/cultural-affairs-program-presents-world-of-percussion-with-brian-melick\/","title":{"rendered":"Cultural Affairs Program presents World of Percussion with Brian Melick"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The college&#8217;s Cultural Affairs Program is pleased to offer the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hvcc.edu\/campuslife\/culture\/world-of-percussion.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">World of Percussion with Brian Melick<\/a>, a series of nine videos for students, faculty and staff that are educational, entertaining and hands-on!<\/p>\n<p>Melick introduces the series, which debuts April 27, in this 90-second video:<br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/410453785\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>A percussion instrument from a different part of the world is featured in each session and you&#8217;ll learn a bit about the history, culture and construction of each instrument. But this isn&#8217;t just about watching and listening. In typical Melick style, each video ends with a virtual drum circle and an invitation to \u201cget your rhythmic groove on\u201d and join in. The only prerequisite is a curious mind and a spirit of adventure. So tune in, grab a drum\u2026 or a desktop&#8230; or clap your hands and enjoy the journey! The full series is listed below.)<\/p>\n<p>Brian Melick is a highly acclaimed musician, composer, educator, inventor, touring and recording artist based in New York&#8217;s Capital Region. He has appeared as a guest of the Cultural Affairs Program numerous times over the years, including a special exhibit and demonstration of his unique LEGO drum kit.
