Controversial Issues Process<\/b><\/p>\n

The “Controversial Issues Process” (Conflict Resolution) Workshop<\/b> helps individuals and groups move hotly contested issues forward by teaching a set of skills that are essential for effective conflict resolution, listening first to the heartfelt concerns on all sides and then reframing the debate in a way that builds bridges.<\/p>\n
Using the NCBI coalition-building model, leaders work with and teach conflicting groups to:<\/p>\n
– Listen to and understand all sides of the dispute<\/p>\n
– Find common ground<\/p>\n
– Reframe the issue in a way that takes all sides into consideration<\/p>\n
– Develop concrete solutions through productive discussion<\/p>\n
Situations in which these teachable skills can be used:<\/p>\n
– Disagreement<\/p>\n
– Conflict<\/p>\n
– Heated debate<\/p>\n
– Basic misunderstandings<\/p>\n
Lunch will be provided. Seating is limited to 50 participants.<\/p>\n
