The VSP offers a competitive salary, pension plan, and benefits package. The salary for a newly hired trooper is $52,935.60 with salary increases at six months and after one year, up to a top salary of $93,095.90 for a trooper position with no rank.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Duties:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Participate\u00a0in and successfully complete\u00a0a prescribed formal course of studies at the Vermont Police Academy.<\/li>\n<li>A period of field training conducted by the Vermont State Police\u00a0after successfully completing the police academy.<\/li>\n<li>Field duties are usually performed in a motor vehicle during an assigned shift of duty, in all types of weather.<\/li>\n<li>Working evenings, nights, and weekends; and may include other irregular duty hours and significant overtime duty.<\/li>\n<li>Attendance at meetings, court hearings, and seminars.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em><strong>Among other eligibility requirements, applicants\u00a0must:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>be 20-years-old to apply and begin the testing selection process.<\/li>\n<li>have satisfactory depth perception and have a satisfactory visual field.<\/li>\n<li>have normal hearing.<\/li>\n<li>have mental and physical condition appropriate to successfully perform, with reasonable accommodation, the essential job functions for this position.<\/li>\n<li>have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.<\/li>\n<li>be in compliance with all applicable Selective Service requirements.<\/li>\n<li>not have felony convictions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><em>How to join the VSP:<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\nStep 1: Apply Online.\u00a0Go to\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/careers.vermont.gov\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">careers.vermont.gov<\/a>\u00a0to create a free user account and apply\u00a0to the\u00a0\u201cTrooper \u2013 Probationary\u201d\u00a0position.<br \/>\nStep 2: Submit required documents.
