The Times Union reported Aug. 5 that Hassib Tleiji, a 2014 Hudson Valley Business-Marketing graduate who’ll start classes at the University at Albany this fall, filmed a police rescue of small children caught in flash flooding on Central Avenue in Albany during Tuesday’s storm.<\/p>\n

A video of Albany city police and Albany county sheriff\u2019s deputies rescuing young children from a flood on Central Avenue in Albany went viral Tuesday after Hassib Tleiji posted the 22-second clip to Facebook.<\/p>\n
Tleiji was inside South Point Auto Plaza on Central Avenue when he says he noticed \u201ca pile up of cars.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s when I knew the underpass was flooded,\u201d says the auto shop manager. \u201d \u2026 I saw cop cars rush by the bridge, and then I saw this.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Hudson Valley Community College graduate who starts at UAlbany in the fall pulled out his phone and started filming.<\/p>\n
The video, which he posted to Facebook, Instagram and Twitter has been viewed more than 7,000 times and generated more than 400 comments.<\/p>\n
\u201cI had no idea it would blow up,\u201d Tleiji says.<\/p>\n
Arber Dragoj, Ryan Johnson and Nicholas Togias are the officers shown in the video, according to Steve Smith, the public information officer at the Albany police department. The Albany police were assisted by two Albany county sheriff\u2019s deputies.<\/p>\n
