{"id":1463,"date":"2020-03-19T14:39:58","date_gmt":"2026-03-11T22:13:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wpdev\/?p=1463"},"modified":"2026-03-11T18:13:17","modified_gmt":"2026-03-11T22:13:17","slug":"accessing-your-hvcc-desktop-vdi-from-off-campus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wpdev\/accessing-your-hvcc-desktop-vdi-from-off-campus\/","title":{"rendered":"Accessing your HVCC Desktop\/VDI from Off-Campus"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00ad\u00ad\u00adGreetings colleagues,<br \/>\nITS has provided remote access to as many HVCC resources as possible.\u00a0 We recognize that many scenarios are likely missing.\u00a0 If you do not poses the tools you need to work from home, but have been asked to work from home, Please contact the ITS helpdesk at 518-629-7364 to discuss your specific scenario.\u00a0 We will accommodate where possible.<\/p>\n<h2>Desktop access<\/h2>\n<h5>For VDI users<\/h5>\n<p>Both VMware and Citrix will be available to employees from home using the client for each.\u00a0 The client can be downloaded and installed from here:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/my.vmware.com\/en\/web\/vmware\/info\/slug\/desktop_end_user_computing\/vmware_horizon_clients\/5_0\">VMware client.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.citrix.com\/downloads\/workspace-app\/\">Citrix Client.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Choose the appropriate client for the type of device you will be connecting from.\u00a0\u00a0 Both clients are available for all major desktops and mobile platforms, enabling a wide variety of ways to access your desktops.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Configuring these clients is simple and Instructions are being developed currently.<\/p>\n<p>You can find details and instructions on how to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hvcc.edu\/its\/resources\/remote-access\/employees.html\">configure VDI here.<\/a><\/p>\n<h5>For non-VDI users-\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 (physical builds)<\/h5>\n<p>Many users are not in VDI due to special application needs.\u00a0 For these users, we will be providing remote access to their desktop.\u00a0 Access will be provided via the Citrix application\u00a0 Those users will need to download and install the Citrix Client.\u00a0 Once configured, users will be able to select their desktop and connect to it remotely.<\/p>\n<p>You can find details and instructions on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hvcc.edu\/its\/resources\/remote-access\/employees.html\">how to configure Citrix here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>If you would like additional help configuring any of these items, please call the helpdesk at 518-629-7364<\/p>\n<p>Thank you and warm regards,<\/p>\n<p>Jon<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jonathan R.
