As we continue our way through the Fall semester, it is a great time to focus on our wellness and find ways we can integrate wellness activities into our daily routines. Wellness can be defined in many different ways. The <a href=\"https:\/\/nationalwellness.org\/resources\/six-dimensions-of-wellness\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">National Wellness Institute<\/a> (NWI) defines wellness as \u201can active process through which people become aware of, and make choices toward, a more successful existence.&#8221; The following resources from the National Wellness Institute highlight six dimensions of wellness and ways for us to attend to these various areas of wellness in a holistic encompassing lifestyle.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-112692 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/6-dimensions-fo-wellness-1-300x258.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"258\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Link to a flyer about the <a href=\"https:\/\/cdn.ymaws.com\/members.nationalwellness.org\/resource\/resmgr\/pdfs\/sixdimensionsfactsheet.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Six Dimensions of Wellness<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">By applying the Six Dimensional model, a person becomes aware of the interconnectedness of each dimension and how they contribute to healthy living. This holistic model explains:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">How a person contributes to their environment and community, and how to build better living spaces and social networks,<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">The enrichment of life through work, and its interconnectedness to living and playing,<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">The development of belief systems, values, and creating a world-view,<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">The benefits of regular physical activity, healthy eating habits, strength and vitality as well as personal responsibility, self-care and when to seek medical attention,<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Self-esteem, self-control, and determination as a sense of direction,<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Creative and stimulating mental activities, and sharing your gifts with others.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-112693 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/wellness-300x118.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"118\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Guidelines for a <a href=\"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/wholeness-reflection-exercis1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Wholeness Reflection Exercise<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">During the 2018 National Wellness Conference, keynote speaker Dr. Joel Bennett discussed the &#8220;Audacity of Wholeness&#8221; and asked participants to complete the wholeness exercise AND share their experience with others. Both steps (internal reflection and safe sharing) are key.
