{"id":14998,"date":"2020-10-22T12:10:36","date_gmt":"2020-10-22T16:10:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wpdev\/free-food-fridays-on-oct-23-and-oct-30\/"},"modified":"2020-10-22T12:10:36","modified_gmt":"2020-10-22T16:10:36","slug":"free-food-fridays-on-oct-23-and-oct-30","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wpdev\/free-food-fridays-on-oct-23-and-oct-30\/","title":{"rendered":"Free Food Fridays on Oct. 23 and Oct. 30"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Capital District YMCA and Troy YMCA have partnered with the USDA\u2019s Farmers to Families program to offer <strong>Free Food Fridays on Oct. 23 and Oct. 30 <\/strong>when 2,000+ free food boxes will be distributed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pick-up times and locations on Oct. 23 and Oct. 30<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>9 to 11 a.m. at the Troy YMCA (2500 21st St.)<\/li>\n<li>Noon to 2 p.m. at Rensselaer&#8217;s Riverfront Park<\/li>\n<li>2 to 3:30 p.m. at the Greene County YMCA (Hope Plaza West, Rt. 81, Coxsackie)<\/li>\n<li>5 to 7 p.m. at Albany County Plaza (260 South Pearl St.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Each box weighs 30-40 pounds and contains assorted fresh vegetables and fruits; meat and eggs (pre-cooked protein\/meat, chicken and eggs), and dairy, including cheese, butter, cream cheese and one (1) gallon or equivalent of milk.<\/p>\n<p>The campus learned of this program from Ivey Green, a senior Human Services student who is doing a field experience at an Albany charter school, according to Maryanne Pepe, chair of the Human Services and Chemical Dependency Counseling Department. She said Ivey, a Troy resident, is very active in her local community and wanted to share this information.<\/p>\n<p>The College Food Pantry also is available to assist students.
