The exhibition will be available for viewing April 16 at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hvcc.edu\/teachinggallery\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.hvcc.edu\/teachinggallery<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Live-streamed artist talks will be presented on<\/strong>:<br \/>\nTuesday, Feb. 16 at 9 a.m. \u2013 Janaye Brown<br \/>\nWednesday, March 3 at 2 p.m. \u2013 Matt Frieburghaus<br \/>\nThursday, March 18 at 10:30 a.m. \u2013 Mandy Cano Villalobos<br \/>\nThursday, April 8 at 2:30 p.m. \u2013 Megan Suttles<br \/>\nThe talks will be free to the public with links available at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hvcc.edu\/teachinggallery\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.hvcc.edu\/teachinggallery<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The video works in \u201cHome Alone 3: On Pause\u201d examine the passing of time during this period of ongoing isolation as the coronavirus surges across the nation. \u201cAs we all dream of the day when life may return to \u2018normal,\u2019 these four artists are renewing ongoing investigations, resurrecting past projects or entirely shifting gears in response to social distancing and isolation,\u201d Teaching Gallery Director Tara Fracalossi writes in an exhibit essay.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe artists presented here grapple with the universal experiences of boredom, loneliness, claustrophobia, patience and, through the sheer persistence of making work, hope. From the amusing to the quietly contemplative, the works included in \u201cHome Alone 3: On Pause\u201d speak to the breadth and commonality of our experiences as we wait and hope for the dark cloud of COVID-19 to clear.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_117937\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-117937\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/janaye-brown-still-from-limbo.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-117937\" src=\"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/janaye-brown-still-from-limbo-300x167.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"167\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-117937\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Janaye Brown: Still Image from Limbo, 2020<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&#8211;The videos of Janaye Brown invite the viewer to observe and experience the calm stillness of waiting while mundane actions \u2013 a boat passing in the distance, a man doing tai chi \u2013 unfold. Brown has an MFA in Studio Art from the University of Texas at Austin and a BA in Cinematic Arts and Technology from California State University Monterey Bay. She currently lives in Shanghai, China.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_117938\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-117938\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/frieburghaus-scanning3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-117938\" src=\"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/frieburghaus-scanning3-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-117938\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Matt Frieburghaus: Still image from Scanning the Greenland Sea, 2020<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&#8211;In Matt Frieburghaus\u2019s work, \u201ctime, space and sound are compressed into videos and images that offer open space, escape and (the good kind of) solitude reminiscent of dawn at the seaside or the view from a mountaintop.\u201d An associate professor of Digital Media at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, he received an MFA in Computer Art from Syracuse University and a BFA in Animation from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_117939\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-117939\" style=\"width: 250px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2-foot-image-2-megan-suttles.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-117939\" src=\"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2-foot-image-2-megan-suttles-300x300.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"250\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-117939\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Megan Suttles: Still Image from Once More Series, 2017 \u2013 2020<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&#8211;For Megan Suttles, the walls have literally closed in. The artist twists, turns and contorts herself to occupy open cubes (containment zones) of decreasing size. Suttles is founder, owner and curator of Hot Wood Arts in Brooklyn that houses 16 artist studios, a gallery, performance space and a recording studio.
