St. Peter&#8217;s Crime Victim Services is offering Free Virtual Support Groups for Fall 2021. Read below for more information about St. Peter&#8217;s Crime Victim Services and the free resources they offer.<\/p>\n<p><strong>You are Not Alone. We Are Here to Support You.\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nSt. Peter&#8217;s Crime Victim Services&#8217; mission is to reduce the incidence and trauma of all crimes through person-centered emotional\u00a0support, advocacy,\u00a0medical\u00a0and legal assistance, and\u00a0community-based prevention efforts.<\/p>\n<p>Deciding to start your healing journey can be challenging. We are here to explain our services, answer questions and connect you with additional resources. Whether you start your services with our programs in the emergency department with a Forensic Examiner and Advocate, or in our offices with a counselor or therapist, we are here to support you. Our staff includes counselors\/therapists, community educators, legal advocates, certified rape crisis counselors, forensic nurse examiners, and an intake coordinator. We offer services for crime victims, their family members and friends, and the community.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sphp.com\/find-a-service-or-specialty\/crime-victim-services\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">St. Peter&#8217;s Crime Victim Services Website<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #b51616;\"><em><strong>Support Groups<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/em><\/span>St. Peter\u2019s Crime Victim Services hosts a variety of support groups. These groups offer a safe space for individuals to connect with others going through similar experiences. Due to COVID-19, we are offering\u00a0virtual support groups.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-123451 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/virtual-support-groups-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Benefits of Peer Support:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Reduce isolation<\/li>\n<li>Share experiences with others<\/li>\n<li>Gain support and hope<\/li>\n<li>Learn new coping skills<\/li>\n<li>Self-confidence<\/li>\n<li>Learn how to regain control<\/li>\n<li>Reduce stress and anxiety<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All of our support groups are offered at no cost. Participants must complete an intake prior to participation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>St. Peter\u2019s Crime Victim Services (SPCVS) is offering a variety of free virtual support groups.\u00a0 All groups begin the week of Sept. 13, 2021 and run for ten weeks. Individuals will need to attend at least eight of the ten weeks in order to participate<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>To register, individuals must:<br \/>\n\u2022 Be a victim\/survivor of a crime<br \/>\n\u2022 Be receiving additional support (from SPCVS, another victim assistance program,<br \/>\nor another mental health provider)<br \/>\n\u2022 Complete a brief intake with the SPCVS staff person who is co-facilitating the group<br \/>\n\u2022 Be 18 or older<\/p>\n<p><strong>Registration is required by Sept. 3, 2021<\/strong>.
