{"id":16332,"date":"2021-08-26T12:00:50","date_gmt":"2021-08-26T16:00:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wpdev\/important-zoom-meeting-security-changes\/"},"modified":"2021-08-26T12:00:50","modified_gmt":"2021-08-26T16:00:50","slug":"important-zoom-meeting-security-changes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wpdev\/important-zoom-meeting-security-changes\/","title":{"rendered":"Important Zoom meeting security changes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In order to secure meetings and fend off potential Zoom bombing, ITS will be making the following Zoom recommended changes as listed below.<\/p>\n<p>The following changes will be made to all Hudson Valley Zoom accounts to improve your experience and reduce issues:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Require that ALL meetings are secured with one of the following security options: a passcode, Waiting Room, or &#8220;Only authenticated users can join meetings.&#8221;\n<ul>\n<li>This feature is now Locked to On.<\/li>\n<li><strong>If no security option is enabled, Zoom will secure all meetings with Waiting Room.<\/strong> Recommended best practice for HVCC Zoom meetings is to enable &#8220;Only authenticated users can join meetings&#8221; and enable passcode.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Important Note:<\/strong> If you enable passcode on a meeting that was previously created you must update the link in Blackboard and any other area it is posted.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/support.zoom.us\/hc\/en-us\/articles\/360034675592\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Learn more about meeting, recording, and audio conference settings<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Require a passcode when scheduling new meetings.\n<ul>\n<li>This feature is now Locked to On.<\/li>\n<li>A passcode will be generated when scheduling a meeting and participants require the passcode to join the meeting. The Personal Meeting ID (PMI) meetings are not included.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Require a passcode for instant meetings.\n<ul>\n<li>This feature is now Locked to On.<\/li>\n<li>A random passcode will be generated when starting an instant meeting.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Require a passcode for Personal Meeting ID (PMI).\n<ul>\n<li>This feature is now Locked to On.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Require a passcode for Personal Audio Conference.\n<ul>\n<li>This feature is now Locked to On<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Require passcode for participants joining by phone.\n<ul>\n<li>This feature is now Locked to On.<\/li>\n<li>A numeric passcode will be required for participants joining by phone if your meeting has a passcode. For meetings with an alphanumeric passcode, a numeric version will be generated.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Only authenticated users can join meetings.\n<ul>\n<li>This feature is now Locked to On.<\/li>\n<li>The participants need to authenticate prior to joining the meetings, hosts can choose one of the authentication methods when scheduling a meeting.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Important Note:<\/strong> There is now an option to add invitees outside of HVCC (non-authenticated users) which is also discussed in the previous link.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/support.zoom.us\/hc\/en-us\/articles\/360037117472-Authentication-Profiles-for-meetings-and-webinars\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Learn more about authentication profiles for meetings and webinars<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Only authenticated users can join meetings from web client.\n<ul>\n<li>This feature is now Locked to On.<\/li>\n<li>The participants need to authenticate prior to joining meetings from web client.
