As we begin the Fall 2021 semester, I wish to welcome all students and to remind each of you about some important safety and parking tips.<\/p>\n
Driving To\/From Campus Be alert to the students walking to\/from\u00a0College Suites, the student apartments at the top of Morrison Avenue. Pedestrians in a crosswalk always have the right of way!<\/p>\n Please be alert to ongoing construction projects on Route 4, especially just south of campus toward Williams Road.<\/p>\n On Campus Please register your vehicle on our new electronic system. Parking on Campus<\/strong> Parking Garage on South Road<\/strong> All other areas in the parking garage are available to students \u2013 almost 500 spaces. Motorcycle parking spaces are available on the first floor of the garage (west side), and in B lots on the north side of campus.<\/p>\n Note<\/strong>: one-way traffic on the first level. Please be alert to signage and directions from Public Safety staff.<\/p>\n Please park only in legal areas! Be Safe \u2013 Both On and Off Campus<\/strong> Secure valuable items such as lap-top computers and smart-phones. \n<\/strong>Please drive carefully at all times. Slow down and avoid distracted driving. The use of cell phones without hands-free devices is illegal and frequently causes accidents. Texting while driving also is illegal and extremely dangerous.<\/p>\n
\n<\/strong>The speed limit on campus is 15 mph. Please slow down and drive carefully (including when backing out of parking spaces). Campus Peace Officers, as well as local police, will issue tickets for all moving violations.<\/p>\n

\ncontinues to be in high demand during peak times. If parking lots and the garage are full, ample\u00a0overflow parking\u00a0is available across Route 4 at South Road (behind the new construction\/Panera). Also, Public Safety staff will direct drivers to other overflow locations, depending on demand. DO NOT drive over curbs or on any grass areas unless directed to do so by Public Safety staff.<\/p>\n
\nStudents are prohibited from parking on Levels 2, 3 and 4 of the parking garage, which are reserved for faculty\/staff with electronic access. During busy periods, Public Safety staff will guide students to an overflow parking area on Level 4; otherwise, please do not park in any gated areas.<\/p>\n
\n<\/strong>Do not park on grass, sidewalks, or block other cars.
\nDo not park in the Hudson Valley Plaza\u00a0\/Price Chopper area\u00a0across Route 4. You will be towed!<\/p>\n
\nPlease lock your car and be alert as you exit your vehicle. Be aware of your surroundings while walking on campus. A safe environment is the college\u2019s top priority, but everyone is encouraged always to be vigilant and contact Public Safety (518-629-7210). If you see something, say something.<\/p>\n
\nReport thefts and other incidents promptly. (Campus video coverage is saved only for up to one week.)<\/p>\n
\nEquip your iPhone, iPad, etc. with GPS location services that can be helpful in recovering lost or stolen items.<\/p>\n
