The Assessment and Institutional Effectiveness Committee met on Oct. 19, 2021. The meeting minutes follow.<\/p>\n
Dr. Margaret Geehan opened the meeting at 1 p.m. on Zoom.<\/p>\n
UPDATES<\/strong><\/p>\n Middle States SUNY Student Satisfaction Survey Updates were given in regards to the APs and Ups, and the Assessment Cycle was noted to still be open.<\/p>\n Almost all the Core Indicators are now ready for review.<\/p>\n We, as a committee, need to go in again and review and possibly update the AIE Committee charge. The last time it was done was about four years ago.<\/p>\n Dennis Wax gave an update for the group to do with Birth Trends. He pointed out that it is not surprising that we are seeing a decline in enrollment in recent years because the research showed that in the Capital Region there is a drop-off in birth rates 18 years ago.<\/p>\n Since there are fewer 18-year-olds to enroll, enrollment will naturally go down a bit even without other factors such as the economy or a shift in desired education or majors in society.<\/p>\n The group also discussed why students would come from downstate (New York city, including the boroughs) to attend college at Hudson Valley or in the Capital Region? This sparked an interest in researching what areas the majority of our non-local students come from.<\/p>\n The Academic Senate Satisfaction Survey is being worked on as well.<\/p>\n The Welding Program that Hudson Valley is launching has four students enrolled so far. This was discussed in relation to licensure rates.<\/p>\n The concept of \u201cTime to Degree\u201d and the ways in which it has been, and will be, affected were discussed. \n<\/strong>It was noted that we are in the midst, the \u201cbelly of the beast,\u201d of our preparation for Middle States process. We are about at the half-way point between when we began planning for it and the actual visit in 2023.<\/p>\n
\n<\/strong>Once Dr. Geehan receives the means back from SUNY, we can compare them to the results of the same surveys in past years and with the average means of both the community college sector and the four-year sector.<\/p>\n
