But is that the greenest way to get the job done, anyway?<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s not, says The Daily Green Web site.  Washing at home typically uses 80 to 140 gallons of water compared to a mere 45 gallons used in an automatic car wash.  Further, by federal law, commercial car wash owners must drain the water into the sewer system where it is treated prior to discharge into waterways.  The self-car washer just sends the soapy water into the ground.<\/p>\n<p>You didn&#8217;t want to do all that work anyway, did you?
