The meeting minutes are as follows:<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Margaret Geehan opened the meeting at 1 p.m. It was held via Zoom.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Membership<br \/>\n<\/strong>Dr. Geehan discussed the group\u2019s updated membership. She reminded everyone that if they need to take a break or step down, they should do so. No one opted to step down. Dr. Peter Sawyer, sociology faculty, has joined the committee.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Middle States Update<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Evidence Library has now been fully made into a draft.<\/p>\n<p>Employee Satisfaction Survey review of items for Early Spring Administration<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The group reviewed the ESS step-by-step and item-by-item, discussing how each was worded and if they needed to delete or change any of them.<\/li>\n<li>Question 1: the group added \u201cgive examples and include communication and professional education&#8221; to make this question more specific. Karen Paquette worked on the items relevant to her area and made improvements.<\/li>\n<li>Question 3: members added examples such as an explanation of employee benefits, retirement information, etc.<\/li>\n<li>Question 11: &#8220;I am satisfied that the College makes data-informed decisions,\u201d sparked much discussion and debate. Committee members expressed concern that those taking the survey might not know what data the survey is talking about, and therefore not answer accurately or skip the question entirely. Members wanted to know more about what type of data the question was talking about in order to answer the question. Those who questioned question 11 asked what data we meant, and also said that might not know how decisions are made so may be confused. Committee members discussed whether a \u201cdon\u2019t know\u201d or &#8220;N\/A&#8221; option should be added. It was suggested that \u201cdata informed\u201d be removed from the question, since that\u2019s what is confusing people, but no change was made at this meeting.<\/li>\n<li>Question 15: \u201cI am satisfied with the College\u2019s support of the Assessment Process,\u201d no changes had to be made. It was noted that survey takers respond to question 15 deals with perspectives on assessment particular to their areas; i.e., student assessment (grading, mostly), employee evaluations, and how each department and unit assesses itself. For the most part, people were satisfied with this.<\/li>\n<li>Question 20 and others deal with assessment at the department level, unit level, and institutional level.
