This week in athletics<\/strong><\/p>\n

Volunteers are needed to work the 2022 NJCAA Outdoor Track and Field Nationals on May 12-14. Interested in volunteering, please contact Adam Sopris at a.sopris@hvcc.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Baseball<\/strong>: Baseball closed out the regular season with a season sweep of Adirondack over the weekend. The team is poised to clinch a No. 3 seed in the upcoming NJCAA Region 3 playoffs and will travel to face either Niagara or Erie for a best-of-three series on Saturday, May 14. The matchups will be finalized on Wednesday, May 11.<\/p>\n

Softball<\/strong>: \u00a0The softball team has now won 14 straight games after it completed the series sweep of Onondaga over the weekend. Team members hit the road on Tuesday for a tough matchup with Mohawk Valley and could claim a No. 3 or No. 4 seed in the NJCAA Region 3 playoffs. The softball team has an opportunity to host a best-of-three series on Saturday, May 14.<\/p>\n

Men\u2019s and Women\u2019s Track and Field<\/strong>: The men’s and women’s track and field programs both earned second-place finishes at the 2022 NJCAA Region 3 Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday afternoon in Herkimer, NY. In the first season of competition since 2019, the women’s program earned 139 points and placed behind the Region 3 Champions, SUNY Broome (177 points). The men also placed second, after winning the championship in 2018 and 2019, posting 191 points. Finger Lakes won the men’s title with 207 points.<\/p>\n
