Wimba Pronto is a new communication tool for Hudson Valley. It is a first of its kind academic instant messaging platform, which allows Video, Voice, Chat and Application Sharing between members of a class or organization.<\/p>\n

Once you have registered, you can choose to allow students and colleagues to see when you are on Pronto or not. Students can do the same. This is a Web 2.0 tool much like students and many of us have been using with family and friends in Gmail, Yahoo, ooVoo and Facebook, but with the added feature of being available only to the academic community.<\/p>\n

Here are some of the features of Wimba Pronto:<\/b><\/p>\n

  • Blended Audio and Video<\/b> replicating face-to-face communication<\/span><\/font>.<\/li>\n
  • State-of-the-art Whiteboard<\/b> to harness the power of visual instruction anytime, anywhere.<\/span><\/font><\/li>\n
  • Office Hours<\/b> for holding online office hours and managing individual attention with a large number of users.<\/span><\/font><\/li>\n
  • Help Desks<\/b> for making all of your institution’s IT, library or registrar’s services available online.<\/span><\/font><\/li>\n
  • Invitation feature<\/b> which enables administrators, instructors and students to easily invite others into the Pronto network for efficient and customized community building.<\/span><\/font><\/li>\n
  • Advanced privacy features<\/b> to ‘wall in’ community members and remove inappropriate users.<\/span><\/font><\/li>\n
