{"id":18271,"date":"2022-07-05T11:45:17","date_gmt":"2022-07-05T15:45:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wpdev\/caat-staff-assume-leadership-roles-for-nysdsc-at-annual-conference\/"},"modified":"2022-07-05T11:45:17","modified_gmt":"2022-07-05T15:45:17","slug":"caat-staff-assume-leadership-roles-for-nysdsc-at-annual-conference","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chronicle.hvcc.edu\/wpdev\/caat-staff-assume-leadership-roles-for-nysdsc-at-annual-conference\/","title":{"rendered":"CAAT staff assume leadership roles for NYSDSC at annual conference"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>DeAnne Martocci, MS, CPACC, director, and Ann Petersen, coordinator of accessibility, in the Center for Access and Assistive Technology, attended the spring conference of the <a href=\"http:\/\/nysdsc.wildapricot.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New York State Disability Services Council<\/a> (NYSDSC) held June 28 to 30 in Syracuse.<\/p>\n<p>The event marked Martocci&#8217;s transition from president-elect to president of the organization that represents disability staff at all SUNY, CUNY and independent colleges in New York State. She will serve a one-year term.<\/p>\n<p>Petersen was elected SUNY Sector member-at-large. In that role, she will engage with other SUNY institutions and SUNY System Administration regarding disability issues from a system perspective. She will have input in many topics that come up within the SUNY Sector.<\/p>\n<p>Martocci and Petersen also presented a conference session, entitled &#8220;Help! I Am Not a Teacher for the Visually Impaired!&#8221; The pair explained the CAAT&#8217;s process when working with students who are blind or have low vision, including how access to academic content is provided using tactile images.
