She was born in Mexico and came to the United States under her parents\u2019 vision of a better life for their children. She was the first one in her family to graduate from high school and attend college. She graduated from Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a degree in Electrical Engineering.<\/p>\n<p>Albarr\u00e1n Chicas is the co-founder of the Latinas in STEM Foundation, and served as an Advisor to Latina SciGirls, a PBS Kids show that exposes elementary and middle-school girls to STEM careers.<\/p>\n<p>She is a recipient of numerous awards including being recognized as a Latina Leader in STEM by NBC Latino and Latino Leaders Magazine as a \u201cRising Star in Tech.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Diana Albarr\u00e1n Chicas is currently a director at Maxar Technologies, where she oversees Cost and Schedule, and Internal Research and Development.
