On Thursday, Nov. 3, the college’s Cultural Affairs Program continues its showcase of several Capital Region groups and various musical styles in part two of a four-part concert series that concludes on Dec. 1. All of the upcoming programs will be held on Thursdays at noon in the Bulmer Telecommunications Center Auditorium. Each hour-long program will be open free to the public; no reservations or tickets are required to attend.<\/p>\n

In the world of acoustic blues \u2013 aka country blues, Delta blues, Piedmont Blues \u2013 Thomasina Winslow is a top-level guitarist and singer, well known for her always-impressive playing and warm, rich vocals. A local treasure who often performs with the band Nite Train, Winslow has performed in the UK, Europe and as far away as Australia. Her video, \u201cRowdy Blues,\u201d has more than 300,000 views on YouTube, helping to create a new, young audience for acoustic blues that continues to grow. She is the daughter of the late Tom Winslow, a legendary folk and blues guitarist who was a member of Pete Seeger\u2019s band. Her latest album, \u201cReturn\u201d (2020), can be sampled and downloaded at www.thomasinawinslow.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n Perennial favorites, The McKrells has shared its Celtic-infused bluegrass with countless audiences around the world, yet maintains a most-welcome presence in the great Northeast. Founder Kevin McKrell, singer, songwriter, guitarist; Arlin Greene, bass; Scott Hopkins, banjo; Brian Melick, percussion; Frank Orsini, fiddle, and Peter Pashoukos, guitar, will play from their vast repertoire, including \u201cStill Pickin\u2019,\u201d a 2022 album.<\/p>\n New to the area\u2019s live music scene, Fuego Sonoro performs 1950s-era Latin music — bossa novas, Brazilian choros, Caribbean rhumbas and calypsos.
